Welcome to Ballyhannon House Horse Riding Centre

The historical and beautiful Ballyhannon house has been in horsemanship for nearly four generations. Serving as the go-to spot for horseback riding Ireland. Ran by the Hassett family, who believes in promoting the mental and physical benefits that come from horseback riding in the beautiful, vast greenery of Ireland.

Upon arriving at the Hassett home, you’re greeted by some of the warmest and gracious people (and family dogs!) in Ireland. Then, you’re escorted to the beautiful Garden Gazebo to sip on coffee and tea (or a nice glass of prosecco, if you prefer) as you sit down to register.

Right after that, you’ll get suited up, take a quick course on how to communicate with your horse. All your worries and questions will be answered in a quick safety and comfort briefing.

When first meeting the horses, you’ll instantly realize how well-loved and trained they are. They’re incredibly sweet and always listen to the rider’s commands. Giving you ultimate confidence as you trot down your chosen path.

Just by finding us, you’ve been blessed with the luck of the Irish. Past visitors agree, as our Treks are highly recommended as a fun, bonding activity for everyone. You’ll have an incredibly relaxing and beautiful day that will make you long for Ireland in the months to come.

Come, and enjoy a ride atop our gentle horses and experience why horseback riding in Ireland is truly a unique experience.

“My husband and I were on our honeymoon and ventured to go here. We were there on May 22, 2017. We both have very little experience in riding. Aislinn was our guide. She was amazing. She made our trip fun. She walked us through every step and made us feel comfortable. She told us about facts from the area. We loved it. We did a 2 hr trek in the woodlands. It was relaxing and beautiful. When we were done, the owner came out and chatted with us. It made us feel like we were part of their family. I would highly recommend horseback riding Ireland for anyone interested in exploring the area, loves horses and meeting locals that love what they do.Thanks for an experience of a lifetime that we will always remember!”

“The horses were beautiful and well trained. Our leader Patrick on JP was phenomenal and super nice. Asked us what we felt comfortable doing and didn’t do. He let us give the horses a drink of water in a stream and trot in the road! Overall great experience and the people were incredibly nice and very informative about horses in general. Very safe and fun activity to roam the hills of Ireland with friends. Incredible farm as well, with many horses and a lot of land.”

“My son, daughter and I were part of a large group that went horseback riding here. The entire experience was wonderful, especially for a first timer like me. Aislinn picked us up and was so warm and gracious. She is a delight and puts everyone at ease. The setting is gorgeous, and waiting for our group, to begin with, Prosecco and strawberries were certainly a nice touch! The family dogs were also a hit! John was great and very patient organizing us and providing instruction so everyone was comfortable. Kathy and Shane were great guides and our route was just lovely. This is a must do if you are in the area!”

“Last October, my husband and I took a 7 day trip through various cities in Ireland. We stopped at castles, parks, local pubs, and enjoyed the scenic views of the Ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park. Trekking at Ballyhannon House was, by far, one of my favorite parts of the trip. I hope to one day make it back for another Trek. I had only been on horseback once before. Our guide introduced us to the horses and brought us through a great demonstration with them that made us feel comfortable with our horses and on horseback. The trek was incredible; it was just the guide, my husband and I. The landscape was beautiful, our guide was knowledgeable about the local area and very easy to talk to. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone with interest in horses and spending a peaceful day in the Irish countryside.”
